On January 20th, 2009 the 44th President of the United States was sworn in. At approximately noon on that same day, the new whitehous.gov page was created. Since then, millions of people have gone to whitehouse.gov in order to start a new type of government, one of familiarity and unity.
This is the justification of this layout. Having worked for the Obama Campaign, the campaign staff at the Tim Hwang for SMOB Campaign has seen first hand what it takes to reach out to the public. We went with this layout because we want to be the most accessible campaign out there. So we turned to the best, Barack Obama. We want to be able to reach out like no SMOB has done before with: pictures, videos, blogs, and yes a very good web site. We know we are no where close to President Obama but we feel that using the same techniques that the president uses to reach out to people is a good idea.
We hope that our message of unity and communication resonates throughout the student body and that students will be able to take this opportunity to voice their concerns through a medium that is familiar, open, and accessible.
We have seen the dawn of a new era, and we hope you can join us in this movement.
If there is anyone who doubts the legality or ethics behind our attempt to reach out to the public please feel free to contact Ms. Karen Crawford of the Student Affairs Office and the Special Elections Committee with a formal complaint: Karen_L_Crawford@mcpsmd.org

ABOUT the WEBSITE
Since we are running the most accessible campaign in SMOB history, the campaign feels as though we must go with a website that has an open and accessible website, mainly: www.whitehouse.gov. Please feel free to visit both sites as it is important to visit the websites of your national and local officials. |
